The Banking “M-Word” & CCD VGS Ending

Image
These days people communicate a lot and lot which we couldn’t even imagine the extent of the conversation. The “M Word” is one of the very important conversations which we need to speak about and most of the people including the major subset of couples don’t discuss on this part. The recent ending of the  Cafe Coffee Day  founder VG Sidhartha is also into the loop with this if we read his adieu note to the BoD of  CCD . Even VGS could have easily sorted the financial demand very quickly if he had strong support emotionally. Though he was surrounded with tons of people, he was alone internally which every Entrepreneur could feel at least once in their life. Last week while I was in the UK, I co-chaired a Financial Event of a  Big Four bank in London. The floor was shared by two of us including the Vice President Commercial of the Bank which is promoting the “M Word” concept in the UK. I really enjoyed the conversation with her as it was the very first time we sp...

Birthday Celebrations - Being Adult

Image
Celebrating one's birthday is a unique event that's meant to be shared with loved ones. Birthdays are just like seasons, most of them welcome with open arms, and others may take a little warming up to. But to mark a milestone, we should be doing something with favourite people in one room to reminisce about the past year and coming year. A typical birthday party for an adult consists of family and friends and usually involves a cake, birthday card, dinner, games, music and much more. To be more specific in India, we expect Mid-Night calls, Surprises, Fun, Wine and many such things from our most loved and favourite peoples. This cannot be limited but endures the partnership and how strong the bonding is existing between people. A call, email, text, or a personal visit to greet them on this special day is almost required as an annual maintenance task of every individual in all the certainties of Family Bonding, Romantic Bonding and Platonic Bonding. Diplomacy Linked with ...

Bromance over Romance - Privileging the Bromance - A study & Examples

Image
Young men get more emotional satisfaction out of “bromances”—close, heterosexual friendships with other males—than they do out of romantic relationships with women, according to a small new  study published in  Men and Masculinities . This study along with a few examples in the reality exemplifies that men need more bromance than romance. Bromances can be important to heterosexual men, and can, in fact, be even more valued than romances. We all have one or two close friendships with whom we share more intimate things without borders and this article is all about it. This article only for men, so girls don't! Just like "Blood is thicker than Water", similar it is "Bromance is stronger than Romance". I have written a few answers in Quora earlier about how the loss of a friend in life affects your performance. We may have many friends, but a "Bro" could be one or two. Calling / Addressing you as "Bro" doesn't mean unless I feel the term with...

Graduation Day Commencement Speech @ Sri Lanka

Image
Reading Time: 4 Minutes 10 Seconds / Speech Time: 9 Minutes 4 Seconds Today, the day of your official transformation from Quantity to Quality carried away by this 9 grams of paper shielded in 140 grams of the holder is going to be a stronger date in your entire life. For most of them, it may be an end card, where for some it would be a beginning. Everyone is comfortable in their timezone; where time is linear and life is never meant to be such. I happened to visit the Keells Supermarket which was just a few meters away from my station this morning. The manager who greeted me was a bit friendly as I was the only customer and I wanted to get some paper packed juices for my breakfast. He was suggesting me few juice packs and directed me to the right section. When I reached that section, I saw different varieties of juices and started the usual Economist way of thinking and started my hunt. I saw a pack being labelled as 30 rupees which usually used to be 200 rupees in my hometown. Was del...

VISA on Arrival for Indians at Dubai, UAE

Image
Indian passport holders with a valid American visa or a Green Card will now be eligible to obtain a UAE visa on arrival, as per the decree approved by the UAE Cabinet. The decision to have a simplified visa process is aimed at advancing the UAE-India relations in economic, politics, and trade. It also contributes to achieving UAE’s vision to be the leading country in attracting global tourism. The visa will be valid for 14 days, with a single extension possible for a fee. “Citizens of the Republic of India who are holders of normal passports with a six-month, or more, valid green card or visa issued by the United States of America shall be granted entry visas to the UAE from all ports for a period of 14 days, subject for a single renewal for the same period upon payment of applicable fees,” an official statement said. Lots of queries were present in connection with this. Thought of writing this post to transfer the experience gained in obtaining the VISA. I travelled to Dubai, United A...

Conversation with future Spouse – Part 6/28 – Home Management

Home Management is sometimes misunderstood that it's the duty of women. But it is not actually. Here are few questions which needs to be asked before setting up the home or ensuring that your home is compatible enough for your future spouse. Did you have a paying job when you were in high school? Before high school? Do you believe in establishing a family budget? Do you believe in prenuptial agreements? Under what circumstances? Do you believe that a certain amount of money should be set aside for pleasure, even if you're on a tight budget? Do you gamble? Do you have significant debts? Do you pay alimony or child support? Do you prefer urban, suburban, or rural settings? Do you think of your home as a cocoon, or is your door always open? What do you need to feel energised and inspired in your home? Has money ever been a factor for you in the breakup of a relationship? Have differences about home style ever been a factor in the breakup of a relationship? ...

"You have a Baby Boy" - Touching Accident Incident

Happening of accident in India has become too usual and common stuff. To coin in a different version, "It is as usual as charging a mobile phone". But only when it happens in our family or our associate, the pain comes up bulged. After having a long trip to Thiruchengode, Coimbatore, Salem I was driving my car back to home all alone since the driver was given with some leave. And I love driving the car all alone or with highly confidante of mine. Whenever I have such an option, I never miss it. And while driving alone or with driver I never stand on the accidents after the 2007 issue of helping an International Person on this affair. But all of a sudden yesterday while returning, crossing Villupuram (a locality in Tamil Nadu, India) late night saw some watery substance in the road and slowed my vehicle. At the dark after turning my car lamps from high to low beam, found two people on the road. As the blood was not clotted in the road, I learnt that the accident could have hap...

I could see your face glittering on reading this post title. Yes, I could surely say it as Romantic Ride on Sunday evening to my mother's hometown without any protocol or stupids behind me. Wanted my car to be picked-up and unfortunately my driver was on leave and more interesting is that I was jobless. It is a very rare occasion to get jobless moments. So decided to pick it up.  Started from my home at 6.30 PM and reached the bus station point at 6.35 PM. Since the junction is a prominent one, happened to meet most of the VIPs and my school VIPs. With numerous Hi and Hello's was about to board into the bus at 6.55 PM routing to Jipmer. Reached in around 17 minutes. Most of the seats were filled with young couples married and families who were returning after the visit to Beach or Sunday Market which is very famous in Pondicherry.  This was a the second break and had met almost 12 people including old employees. I really love travelling in the foot board alike my school ...

Two Wheeler the Curse to Indian Drivers

Always the most worst people (than me) are in the Indian Roads who drive their two wheeler. OMG! If you are driving a four wheeler or a bus in GST (Grand Southern Road), South India, India you will be completely pissed off and will avoid driving in the roads. Such terrible and dangerous guys, they are always. They quote that they pay the taxes to the Government and so, they will go only in the middle of the road. Yesterday around 2 AM, crossing Melmaruvathur there was a two wheeler with his family. The two wheeler was not even having a tail light, it was carrying a woman and a small child. Unfortunately the dresses they were wearing is also dark red and not visible in the massacring night. Flying with my beast at around 130 kmph since the road was empty from a distance ahead. Almost with around 40 meters ahead I noticed them travelling in the middle of the road and it had been a ridiculous moment to make it up steady. Refreshed myself in few minutes after making a small stopping and st...

Chennai City Traffic Cop won me by Getting INR 10 as bribe

On last Saturday, I was quite busy with some official work at Chennai and suddenly got the email from ICICI Bank offering me some coupon to watch movie in Chennai. So immediately went online and booked a movie at Phoenix Market City. Since I was at Madhya Kailash, took a left crossing Raj Bhavan to reach Phoenix mall. While coming around Velacherry bye pass road, I was bit confused and tried to peep out of the car to see if there is any NO U TURN sign. To my view there was nothing such. Addingly I saw many two wheelers and T - Board vehicles are making a U turn. So with the guts, I made a U Turn as usual. In approx 150 meters, there was a SI and PC who blocked my car. That SI came near to me and asked for Driving License and Insurance Papers. He got them and went away. After few minutes he came near to me and demanded Rs. 300. I asked why, he said it is a NO U TURN and was showing me a board which was around 200 meters from the signal. I refused saying that he was key instrumental in m...

Becoming a Billionaire

Image
Hi, Am writing after a long time here. The reason for not being here was, "I was a Billionaire". The word of being Millionaire or Billionaire is highly a fantasy for many people and even am into that list. Though I have a world which makes me into that category, but I firmly believe that the Organization's money is not my money. The salary which I have should define of being Millionaire or Billionaire. Thought the asset value goes for me a title Millionaire, still there is a greed of me to become Billionaire. This was recently satisfied for my level. Yes, happened to visit Republic of Vietnam for the ICCCEG 2014 [International Conference on Cloud Computing and eGovernance 2014] The conversion rate was really awesome and great than what I expected. It was around 1 INR = 355 VND. When I went to the bank to withdraw cash for settling the hotel bills, I saw the bank lady started putting many zeros next to 233 literally. I was wondering how she calculated those in few seconds....

Losing the earphones - A worst Habit

Yes, I coin losing the earphones as a very bad habit which I posses. I use to listen to music whenever time permits. But I never ensure that I restore the earphones in the bag or jacket because of work or some other interests ( :-P ). Every alternate month, I spend around INR 450 for this earphones. But there is no satisfaction in few earphones which priced less than the said one. By this time, known to me [According to my Credit & Debit Card statements], I have bought more than 392 earphones since 2009. There are few months, when I lose it once in two days. This is continuing as like a school kid losing the eraser or pencil at the end of the day. Even-though we are matured, we miss at certain uncertain points like this.

Shaving @ Rs. 10,000

On seeing the title you would have multiple thoughts, well am sure. Yes, this happened today just before few hours. I went to State Bank of India ATM to withdraw Rs. 100 (approx 1.8 USD). I was on an important call when I was crossing the SBI ATM. So stopped there and gave a break for that conference call with MUTE option. But even then don't want to lose the content of the call. So, decided to answer the call as well as withdraw the cash. Instead of typing Rs. 100, I typed it as Rs. 10,000 and withdrew the cash. Without the presence of mind, I collected the cash and inserted into my wallet and moved ahead. Now suddenly I got a call asking for the reason of withdrawal and still I didn't reach the present world and was at con-call. The person who called on my alternate line was the Accounts Incharge and he asked me for the reason. I was too cool to respond, I withdrew it for shaving and going to a saloon. It got blasted for the entire team and they started scratching their heads...

Choosing the Best Car

We generally have a doubt about choosing the car fuel type. Yes, Petrol cars are quite cheap than LPG and Diesel. As well as the maintenance is cheaper in Petrol cars. Types of Cars Diesel Petrol LPG Classification of Cars Sedan Hatch-backs SUVs First, decide the type of fuel. If you use around some 10,000 kms a year, it is better to go with Petrol. From 10,000 to 40,000 LPG and beyond that only Diesel. This is approx kms to indicate the usage type of you. Also note that in Diesel car, you need to gear your car atleast once in 3 days and drive for atleast 10 kms. Second, decide about the classification. If you are the only one to travel go for hatch-backs and with your family greater than 5 should go for SUVs. For an ideal family like 3 or 4 can go for any model of car based on their budget.

Mobile on Drive

I was over phone in an important call while crossing Saidapet signal at approx 2 PM. I could know what you connect between the title and the first line. No, I wasn't driving the car, it was my driver who was driving the car. I saw a girl around 23, probably working in some IT sector. She was wearing a grey color dress and was driving a grey color Honda Activa type of two-wheeler in the hot sun without helmets. She was on mobile and was going on the left. Suddenly she felt her bag falling down from her leg arms from two-wheeler. She suddenly started caring for the bag with her one hand and had the mobile over her ears. At that moment, I dropped the call and alerted my driver and my PS to be cautious. By the time she fell down from her two-wheeler almost in the middle of the road. Upto my sight there was none to pick her up from the fallen position too. I had a little bit of soft corner and thought of picking her up by stopping the car, it was then my PS advised me not to do so for t...
